Ingredients
 

DUMPLINGS

  • 1โ…“ cups (200g) gluten-free self-raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon margarine or dairy-free alternative
  • โ…“ cup (80ml) golden syrup
  • โ…“ cup (80ml) milk or dairy-free alternative

SAUCE

  • 1 tablespoon margarine or dairy-free alternative
  • ยพ cup firmly-packed brown sugar
  • ยฝ cup (125ml) golden syrup
  • 1ยฝ cups water

Instructions
 

  • To prepare the dumplings, place flour in a medium-sized mixing bowl and rub in margarine. Add golden syrup and milk and stir until combined and free of all lumps. Set aside.
  • Place sauce ingredients in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir until combined and sugar has dissolved. Bring mixture to a boil and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Place dollops of dumpling batter in the simmering sauce. Cover saucepan with lid and cook for 25 minutes or until dumplings are puffed and cooked through. Serve immediately, with a dollop of thickened cream, if desired.
