Our household is a big fan of melt and mix slice recipes, and one of our all-time favorites is the gluten-free Chocolate Crunch Slice. What’s great about this recipe is that the use of gluten-free cornflakes doesn’t compromise on the rich, chocolatey taste of the classic chocolate crunch slice recipe.
This recipe is also an excellent choice for parents who want to involve their young children in baking. With a little bit of adult supervision, this easy-to-follow recipe is perfect for young aspiring bakers to prepare and enjoy.

Chocolate Crunch Slice
Ingredients
- 200 g butter
- 100 g caster sugar
- 3 tablespoons golden syrup
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free cocoa powder
- 150 g gluten-free self-raising flour
- 90 g gluten-free cornflakes crushed
- 90 g desiccated coconut
TOPPING
- 180 g gluten-free milk chocolate use dairy-free chocolate if required
- Assorted gluten-free sprinkles to decorate (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C and line a 20 x 30cm baking tin with baking paper.
- Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan over low heat. Add sugar, golden syrup, cocoa and flour. Mix until combined, then add cornflakes and coconut and stir until combined.
- Press mixture into prepared baking tin and bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
- To prepare the topping, break chocolate into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Pour melted chocolate over cooled slice. Decorate with sprinkles if using.
- When topping has set, remove from tin and slice into squares or triangles to serve.
